Session Guide

Sessions #

The Sessions section of Overtracking provides a detailed view of the interactions users have with your website. This information helps you better understand user behavior and make improvements based on these insights.

Key metrics #

When accessing the Sessions section, you will find the following metrics:

  • Unique Visitors: Number of distinct users who visited your website during the selected period.
  • Sessions: A set of interactions a user has on your website during a specified period.
  • Page Views: Total number of pages viewed by users during the selected period.
  • Views per Visit: Average number of pages viewed by a user during a session.
  • Bounce Rate: Percentage of users who leave your website after viewing only one page.
  • Visit Duration: Average time users spend on your website during a session.

Session table #

Below the key metrics, there is a table showing user sessions during the selected period. By default, the table is sorted from the most recent to the oldest session, but you can modify the period to view sessions for a specific timeframe (1). You can also add filters (2) and export data (3).

Visitor information #

The sessions table displays the following information for each user:

  • Country: The country of origin of the user.
  • City: The city of origin of the user.
  • Registration Date and Time: Date and time when the user registered on your website.
  • Operating System: The operating system used by the user.
  • Device: The device used by the user (e.g., computer, tablet, smartphone).
  • Browser: The browser used by the user to reach your website.
  • Total Sessions: Total number of sessions the user has had on your website.
  • Last Activity: Date and time of the user’s last activity on your website.

Detailed visitor information #

By clicking on the button showing the number of sessions at the end of the row, you can access a page with detailed information about that visitor.

This page displays:

  • Session Date: The date when the session occurred.
  • Start Time: The time when the session began.
  • End Time: The time when the session ended.
  • Duration: The length of the session.
  • Pages Viewed: Number of pages viewed during the session.

Visitor information

User events information #

By clicking on the button showing the number of views, you can access a page with information about the events the user performed during the session. This page displays:

  • Event Type: Type of event that occurred (e.g., page view, button click, etc.).
  • Date: Date when the event occurred.
  • URL: URL of the page where the event occurred.

Period modification #

In the top-right corner of the Sessions section, you will find a button that allows you to modify the period for which you want to view the sessions. You can choose a predefined period (e.g., last month, last week, last day) or enter a custom period.

Filters #

Next to the period modification button, you will find a button that allows you to add filters to the sessions table. You can filter by:

  • Country: Country of origin of the user.
  • City: City of origin of the user.
  • Screen Resolution: Screen resolution used by the user.
  • Language: Browser language of the user.
  • Device: Device used by the user (e.g., computer, tablet, smartphone).
  • Session: Criteria related to the session (e.g., number of pages viewed, session duration, etc.).

For each filter, you can choose the condition (equals, not equals, contains, does not contain, greater than, less than) and the value.

For example, if you want to see sessions of users from Spain who used a mobile device in the last year, you can follow these steps:

  1. Click the “Modify Period” button and select “Last Year.”
  2. Click the “Filters” button and select “Device.”
  3. In the condition, select “Equals.”
  4. In the value, select “Mobile.”
  5. Click the “Apply” button.

The sessions table will update to show only the sessions of users from Spain who used a mobile device during the last year.

Export to .pdf or .csv #

Finally, you will find a button that allows you to export the sessions table to a PDF or a CSV file. This option lets you save the information for later reference or share it with others.
